Buforin 2 is a 21-aa antimicrobial peptide that inhibits the growth of bacteria and fungi extracted from the granular gland secretions of the skin in the asian toad Bufo gargarizans. It is also used as a cell penetrating peptide to deliver DNA and RNA. Buforin 2 corresponds to aa16-36 of the Histone H2A precursor cleaved in Buforin 1 and Buforin 2.
